Well, as a new years resolution I decided to go without coffee or caffeinated drinks.\u00a0 It is now just about a month without caffeine, or at least with nothing like the dose previously consumed.<\/p>\n

I am not sure what effect this has had on my mathematics.<\/p>\n

Paul\u00a0 Erd\u00f6s once remarked “in Hungary many mathematicians drink strong coffee”.<\/p>\n

Alfr\u00e9d R\u00e9nyi stated “a mathematician is a machine which turns coffee into theorems”.<\/p>\n

So, I think we can claim a link between coffee and mathematics!<\/p>\n

Anyhow,\u00a0 as of February I will be doing more mathematics in coffee houses.<\/p>\n
