It is the fastest jet-powered airplane ever built. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mach 3 <em>is<\/em> about 2280 mph \u2026 at sea level.  But it varies with <del datetime=\"2009-06-29T19:56:29+00:00\">density<\/del> altitude, so <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aerospaceweb.org\/question\/atmosphere\/q0112.shtml\">at 85,000 feet, it&#8217;s about 2000 mph<\/a>.
