(along with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclimate.org\/index.php\/archives\/2009\/10\/an-open-letter-to-steve-levitt\/#more-1488\">RealClimate<\/a> and several other blogs)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to Levitt and Dubner, the story\u2019s message is a simple one: if, at any particular moment, things look bleak, it\u2019s because people are seeing them the wrong way. \u201cWhen the solution to a given problem doesn\u2019t lie right before our eyes, it is easy to assume that no solution exists,\u201d they write. \u201cBut history has shown again and again that such assumptions are wrong.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Solutions <em>do<\/em> exist.
