It’s confirmed: Matter is merely vacuum fluctuations

Each proton (or neutron) is made of three quarks – but the individual masses of these quarks only add up to about 1% of the proton’s mass. So what accounts for the rest of it?

Theory says it is created by the force that binds quarks together, called the strong nuclear force. In quantum terms, the strong force is carried by a field of virtual particles called gluons, randomly popping into existence and disappearing again. The energy of these vacuum fluctuations has to be included in the total mass of the proton and neutron.

  1. No Higgs, no SUSY, no quantized gravitation. Physical theory evolves from deep symmetries, obserables evolve from symmetry breakings. Fundamental work requires fundamentals not asethetic approximations.

    What is the gravitational force between the diagonal two sets of masses? G=1, m=1 for simplicity. 28 discrete handshakes projected upon the centers of mass line and summed give a 3.6% difference/average different answer than centers of mass calculation.

    Covariance with respect to reflection in space and time is not required by the Poincaré group of Special Relativity or the Einstein group of General Relativity. Noether’s theorem requires continuous symmetries. Opposite parity mass distributions are not required to respect either one. Do local left and right shoes vacum free fall identically? All of physical theory could be subtlely wrong for a footnote. Somebody should look.
