New York Times Wants to Fight Einstein, Einstein Declines
Short, snarky version: Everyone should be shocked, SHOCKED! that general relativity doesn’t work where quantum theory is needed.
Matthew also rightly points out that framing a relativity experiment as a cult-of-personality exercise is a bad idea.
Newer theories supplant older ones conceptually, but every theory is provisional, constantly tested by experiments and observations. Einstein, important as he was in 20th-century physics, is not the ultimate authority even on his own theories, and refinements to his work should not be framed as proving him right or wrong.
Quantum gravitations are 45 years of non-empirical math. GR assumes the Equivalence Principle (EP) and contingent achiral spacetime curvature. Superset Einstein-Cartan-Kibble-Sciama gravitation ignores the EP, with chiral spacetime torsion toward fermionic matter. Perform an EP test opposing chemically and visibly identical, single crystal test masses in enantiomorphic space groups, e.g., P3(1)21 vs. P3(2)21 ?-quartz. Opposite shoes chiral vacuum embed (mount a left foot) with different energies. They vacuum free fall along divergent minimum action trajectories. End parity violations, chiral anomalies, and symmetry breakings in QM. Look.
Does QM adequately describe black holes? Tell us about naked singularities, QM.
