Igor … Throw the Main Switch!
I’ve always wanted a huge double-pole, double-throw knife switch in the lab, because you can’t utter that phrase without it, but it’s probably a bad idea.
So you settle (just a little)
Because sometimes you just need to run a few hundred amps through something …

A few dozen milliamps through the right places can have extraordinary effects. Doesn’t take much to fire a synapse.

Just noticed something else that I like about this post…
You know something was built in the 30-50’s when the machine has the suffix -tron attached. For some reason, this made scientists (physicists) feel especially intelligent. At BNL, I think they still use the cyclotron and synchotron particle accelerator.
