Nailed it. To first order, everything is an harmonic oscillator. All that’s left is to add in some perturbations.

To second order, every (stable) thing is a harmonic oscillator?
Physics fundamentally assumes simplicity through symmetry. If the universe is fundamentally asymmetric, physics is fundamentally wrong. Matter absent antimatter, the left-handed Weak interaction, biological homochirality… are written off as symmetry breakings. That the Higgs mechanism and its vector boson, SUSY, all quantized gravitation theories… are empirical disasters simply requires more studies.
