Six scientists tell us about the most accurate science fiction in their fields
Several of the scientists we contacted were simply at a loss when I asked whether they could think of any science fiction that was accurate when it came to their field of study.
It would have been interesting if the had asked a sociologist. For many people, the impact on technology on society is one of the most important, if not the single most important and characteristic, feature of SciFi. I wouldn’t be surprised if SciFi fares quite well there in some instances. For example, the wife of Montag in Fahrenheit 451 who sits in front of her live-TV all the day chatting with her “family” of friends: the concept appears very facebookish to me when seen from today’s perspective.
Drumroll… You are not meant to benefit from government services, you are meant to suffer. Be small before your God or He will crush you smaller (which He will do anyway – it’s in His job description). One might say, “Uncle Al, you are a bitter paranoid raving loon.”
