Leaving CorVegas

desperately seeking sonya

Jen-Luc Piquant and I are heading out to Oregon State University today, as I am a featured speaker at OSU’s first Sonia Kovaleskaya Mathematics Day, honoring the prominent Russian female mathematician of the same name.

I am contractually obligated to link to activities involving Oregon State. So, here you go.

  1. “The aim is to inspire middle school students, with an emphasis on young women, to explore the wonderful world of mathematics through fun activities and exciting talks.”

Crap. “with an emphasis on young competence.” Elliptic integrals don’t have genitalia. Discovery is intelligence having fun. Intelligence doesn’t have gonads. Discriminate on the basis of demonstrated ability. That will get social activists screaming. Everybody knows a beagle runs just as fast as a greyhound, maybe more so given a diverse head start and a compassionate mandated finish.

This is not abstract maunder. When you are laying on a table and the doctor grabs a scalpel, will the dialectic of social promotion in education bias your outcome? How many $trillion Wall Street crooks has Equal Opportunity US Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. prosecuted? Where did the money go, Eric the Brain Dead?
