One classic illustration of how the old guys with the beards knew their understanding of physics was incomplete involves the specific heats of gases. How much does a gas warm up when a given amount of energy is poured into it? The physics of the 1890s was unable to resolve this problem. The solution, achieved in the next century, required quantum mechanics, but the problem was far from unknown in the years before 1900.

Theory predicts what observation tells it to predict. When rigorously derived theory fails (e.g., massed Standard Model, SUSY, Higgs, quantum gravitation, dark matter; Euclid on a torus; Newton omitting lightspeed, Planck’s constant, Boltzmann’s constant) it fails because it is wrong. Theory will not be wrong for its execution. Theory will be wrong for its assumptions.

Polished or not, it’s still crap. Theory that is polished must instead be repaired. Falsify one or more weak founding postulates, thereby locating the problem. In context, the vacuum appears to be chiral toward mass all the way down, not isotropic as postulated. Neutrinos are chiral massed fermions. Do opposite shoes fit differently upon a vacuum left foot?
