My Birthday

cake I did not realise this until today, but I share my birthday with John Wallis (23 November 1616 – 28 October 1703). Wallis made contributions to infinitesimal calculus, analytic geometry, algebra and the theory of colliding bodies. He is best known for the infinity symbol \(\infty\).

Wallis was also a code breaker and used his mathematical skills during the Civil war to decode Royalist messages for the Parliamentarians.
